HUNT IN SOUTH AFRICA

Climate

South Africa enjoys a mostly sunny climate with mild winters and hot summers. Winter days (May–August) are cool to warm, though frost and occasional snow may occur in the higher regions. From October to March, temperatures climb significantly, with northern areas like the Limpopo and Northern Cape often exceeding 35°C.

Hunting Areas

The Hunting is available across the country, from KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Cape to the North West and Limpopo. Depending on species requirements, safaris are conducted on private conservancies and large game ranches. Accommodation is in comfortable lodges or luxury tented camps, with full service including meals and laundry.

Hunting Season

Hunting is permitted year-round, though some provinces regulate specific species during certain months. The cooler, drier winter season (April–September) is generally the most favorable.

Health & Safety

Camps are equipped with first aid kits and communication systems for emergencies. Malaria precautions are necessary in lowveld and subtropical zones. Always safeguard passports, visas, and valuables or entrust them to the outfitter for secure storage.

Travel & Accommodation

Guests are met upon arrival at the closest international airport and transferred to camp by road or charter flight. Camps and lodges are fully serviced with meals, non-alcoholic drinks, daily laundry, and comfortable amenities. Linen, toiletries, and hot water are provided.

Customs, Visas & Insurance

A valid passport (minimum six months beyond departure) is required. Some nationalities require a visa, which must be arranged prior to arrival. Travel insurance, medical evacuation cover, and baggage protection are strongly advised.

Documentation

Certain species require provincial or national hunting permits, which we arrange in advance.

Currency & Spending Money

The South African Rand (ZAR) is the local currency. Credit cards are accepted in towns, but cash is preferable in rural areas. Tipping is customary for the PH, camp staff and trackers.

Firearms & Ammunition

A SAPS 520 firearm import permit is required. Rifles, shotguns, and handguns may be brought in for hunting, provided correct permits are presented. We assist with all paperwork.
